To celebrate Sunday's Super Bowl XLVI, Darby is bringing in some anti-jock sport jams - scrapping the Gary Glitter, House of Pain and Queen by subbing in the Bob Dylan, Dennis Alcapone and Tragically Hip. This week's Magnificent 7 Countdown features a brand new track from M.I.A., some Yukon Blonde and Jack White's first solo effort. So turn down the commentary and let us provide the game's soundtrack.

The Magnificent 7 Countdown features some home grown Indie Acts, remixed Poets, and Peter Gabriel sound-a-likes . Protest The Hero make a request for The Ten with Tom Waits segment. George also catches up with CBC Radio 3 host Lana Gay about her travels to SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas, and our Blend mini mix features Do Right Music! label founder and DJ John Kong.  The Spirit of Radio on a night to celebrate Canadian Music!

One more thing. I rented and watched Score A Hockey Musical for the first time today. I love funny Canadian films that don't take themselves seriously. I laughed a lot. I was entertained by it's kitschy homespun national playfulness! I was also surprised how good George was in the role of  Hockey Arena Announcer. He always seems to put himself down by declaring he is 'not an actor and can only play himself', but he ends up in a lot of Canadian films despite his modesty, and I am convinced he is improving as an actor and he can no longer claim he 'can't really act'. Well done!


Just my opinion.
